ISTANBUL / LONDON — Media reports in Turkey and abroad have cited Acun Ilıcalı and Esat Yontunç in connection with alleged financial irregularities, as Turkish prosecutors continue a domestic investigation involving Yontunç.
The Istanbul Criminal Court ordered Yontunç’s release under judicial supervision following his detention at Istanbul Airport. Prosecutors cited allegations related to prostitution and drug facilitation.
Separate reports have claimed that alleged financial activities linked to media, betting, and sports ventures are under review by international authorities. These claims remain unverified.
Neither Turkish nor U.S. authorities have announced charges related to the international allegations.
